And it doesn’t get any bigger than that as the picture shows! The GFSI PR team have been working their magic and secured a spot in New York’s famous Times Square proclaiming “GFSI Recognises Rising Food Safety Stars Around the World at the Global Markets Awards 2020.”
For Greenfence, as the sponsor of the awards, the coverage is wonderful as it resonates with the event objective of advancing food safety globally and we congratulate our colleagues at the GFSI.
But for all the team here, it does go a bit deeper than the lights of nearby Broadway – although they are nice! As Mitch Chait, our Founder and CEO of Greenfence said during the awards ceremony last week, “For Greenfence, this is more than just a financial undertaking. It is about advancing the GFSI message and food safety globally. GFSI is a platform that can truly change the world; food safety is imperative but there is a whole commercial aspect to this. Against the backdrop of increasing regulatory landscapes and 5G and the IoT, companies will need certification in order to deliver them with market access.”
Sponsorship is a big deal for any organisation; whatever you sponsor has to mirror your core values, your beliefs and you have to think about what you are getting in return. For Mitch, what is evident is that core value and beliefs sit at his heart. He makes no secret of the fact that he has grown up in the food industry. Speaking to Vince Molinari at The Impact recently, he talked about his background; “I have been involved in everything from farming to fishing to processing and packaging foods, distribution and logistics. I can promise you if you have any background in the farming or the fishing industry, you will find out that these are rock solid, salt of the earth people that are just looking at being treated fairly in life. It is easy to be successful; you just need to treat everyone fairly. These people are community orientated; they live, work and cry together!”
Mitch spoke about some of the technological solutions that Greenfence is bringing to the marketplace; “It is really important if you are going to bring any of this to market that you have a good understanding of the communities that you are touching. And that really has been an inspiration for me to heavily invest and get involved in these things because at the end of the day, for Greenfence, whilst shareholders love to make money, the greater aspiration is impact.”
That sentiment is mirrored into the reason why we make the investment we do into the Global Markets Awards; impact. We want to make an impact on the food safety community, to change mindsets, to help those that need a helping hand and through our sponsorship, we are able to help do this.
